Last year in music history class, we'd been introduced to a minimalist composer named Steve Reich. We were assigned to listen to an excerpt from one of his works, Tehillim. Ever since then, I had been trying to decide if I should get a CD recording of it. The other day, Reed and I began talking about him, so impulsively got the CD. I'm listening to it now. It's nice!! Glad I got it. I have weird musical tastes. Here's the CD I got. posted by Melike at 19:30

Yay, I renamed all my mp3s. In the classical CDs, people had entered the track and artist names in the wrong places, so I fixed all of them. Now, when you go on my audioscrobbler page, you won't see track names under artist names and vice versa. If you're curious about my listening selection, feel free to ask me about it. I can send you mp3s. posted by Melike at 18:44

Last night, Reed and I went to Westwood at 10pm to get boba. After walking around a bit, we decided to go to UCLA. We walked around the deserted buildings and parks. Reed kept admiring the architecture everywhere; I love exploring places with him because he is such a visual person. He doesn't take visual beauty for granted. At one point, we walked through the food court where dozens of students were studying for their finals on the next day. We walked straight through and out into a deserted courtyard. I felt like we had just been ghosts that floated through the entire scene unnoticed. I love being within a crowd without actually being part of it. On our way back, we went through the engineering building, which was cold, sterile, and had brutalist architecture like any other engineering building. It was abandoned and scary. I felt like zombies were going to attack us any second. Also, for some reason, the bathrooms were very creepy looking... so we took a few pictures.
And so I conclude with a quote: "UCLA at night is the best. I almost cried it was so gothic!" - Reed posted by Melike at 20:04

belts
Yesterday, my mom and I went to Michael's and got three different balls of yarn. She then used these to crochet me three belts. I'm going to put them through my belt loops and tie a knot in the front. Aren't they cute? She's gonna make tassels on the ends of the one in the middle. posted by Melike at 18:49
I dislike planning for the future. I still don't know what I'm doing tomorrow, let alone next week. My classmates have been applying for summer internships since January, but I don't want to think about it.. I don't even want an internship, but I need it. I've applied to one internship; if I'm not accepted to it, I'm pretty much apathetic about doing anything else. I applied to Eczacıbaşı, a big pharmaceutical company in Turkey today. Apparently it's hard to get an internship there because there are a lot of applicants. We're gonna find out the results in May... posted by Melike at 18:14
imood
If you've been coming to this website for over two years, you would have remembered that I used to change my imood every day. Today I went back to the site to take a look at it again, and was disappointed to find that it was exactly how it was two years ago. Well, I suppose you can't do much more with such a service. But still, I think I'm gonna start updating it again... Hopefully it won't inconvenience me too much. posted by Melike at 02:39
I just updated the quotes section. Yaaaay. posted by Melike at 03:04

Today Jocelyn, my friend from high school, and I went out to get coffee. We went to a chic cafe that we always go to called Anastasia's. I ordered an ice blended coffee drink with blueberries and vanilla in it. It tasted different... I liked it. posted by Melike at 05:42
e-mails
I've been getting several accusations about not responding to e-mail. Sorry! I usually respond to a whole bunch during the holidays. I just responded to a few right now (and crossed it off my to-do list.. yay!). A few weeks ago I'd announced that I never respond to the e-mail that comes to my queenoflub.com account. If you want a response (it might take a few weeks), write to my gmail account. Just giving you a heads up. posted by Melike at 05:35
