Hey everyone, Believe it or not, I accumulated a lot of stuff to talk about in the past few days, but have never felt like writing it down. Tomorrow morning we're leaving for Turkey and I haven't even started packing yet. I'm just sooooo so tired. I really need this vacation. posted by Melike at 02:28
I've been meaning to put up this picture because it's so cute. Sorry the quality is bad; I guess my scanner kind of sucks. I've had it since 7th grade, I think... Six years is pretty good for a scanner, I guess. Saturday, our Chinese teacher took us to eat dim sum at the same place Clinton ate. It was voluntary, so not everybody was there, but we could also bring friends. I brought Andrea with me. The girl next to us took pictures with her digital camera, then printed them out on photo paper and gave them to us on Monday. She even printed out copies for Andrea. It was really nice of her because I'm always too lazy to take pictures in such places. Anyway, this picture is my favorite. Andrea and I look funny. After dim sum, we went into Ranch 99 (a Chinese supermarket), and Andrea suggested some food/candy to me. I could recognize some Chinese characters (very few) and kept pointing them out to Andrea. A guy named Chris (from my class) gave us a ride... so yeah, it was fun. There are so many dim sum places in Chinatown back in Boston, and I've only gone once. Next year I'm going to go more often! posted by Melike at 02:08
definition of orchestra
Today Soha called me to invite me to an LA Philharmonic concert because her neighbor had four tickets. I would have liked to go and it was very kind of her to ask, but I have a lot of work tonight so I chose not to. Anyway, I wanted to point out a snippet of the phone conversation which appalled me:
me: So what are they playing? Soha: It's an orchestra. me: Okay, but what are they playing? Soha: Hold on, let me ask. [to neighbor] What are they playing? neighbor: Orchestra. You know the music that they play in the background in movies? That's what an orchestra is!
Hmmmm, did he really think I was dumb enough to not know what an orchestra was? Were orchestras formed to play movie soundtracks? The world may never know. Augh!! posted by Melike at 01:28

I was actually going to post last night, but my internet connection was down. I'll need to upload images and whatnot for the post, so I'll try and do that tonight. Thank you. posted by Melike at 12:46

so true
Today I was talking to Robert on AOL Instant Messenger after not having talked to him for months, and when we said goodbye he put up an away message that I wanted to share with you guys:
Real Men of Genius--- Today I salute you Mr. Compulsive Away Message Checker. While most people are out actually having fun, you are at home reading about it on your computer screen.. Right mouse click, Get Buddy Info, or the little Info box at the bottom of the Buddy List. You have people on that list you haven't talked to in years, but you still loyally read their away messages everyday to see what they are up to. So, crackan ice cold Bud Light, Marauder of the Mousepad and don't wander too far from your computer because you never know when someone's away message may change.
